Mitt Romney Lying for the Lord

Whether we like it or not, religion will play a role in the election. That being said... I am a HUGE fan of Mitt Romney. His religion is going to be hurdle for him, but what the religious right fails to realize is that his religion might not be a bad thing. Mitt outwardly stated, in the last debate, that he would not back down from his religion to win the election. While I'm not Mormon, I believe that having Mitt as president means we'll have a president who values heaven. His goal is to get there. And in his faith, actions must meet with beliefs. If he lies and cheats, he won't go to heaven. I think it would be amazing to have an honest president, and Mitt is our best chance.
but no, it doesn't have to be like that. Religion doesn't have to play a role - or at least not to this extent. It mucks up the system. We have to agree on that. I know folks were talking about JFK's Catholicism and that religion will always be an eyebrow-raiser for voters. But should it be something that causes finger-pointing and fist-pumping? It is SUCH a distraction. Let's not allow the "whether we like it or not" norm and let our politicians know they are free to rise above having to promote or defend their religious beliefs along the campaign trail!!
